There certainly doesn't seem to be anything remotely special about the man in front of Bastard. If anything, he seems aggressively harmless. Plus he'd been severely outplayed just now, hadn't he? Renamed and very obedient.

Wisp is also drawing a blank. "W - what? Me? Why would I have a - a spider watching me?"

"An excellent question, Wisp." Perhaps the creature itself is a coincidence, but the window... well, that can't be, can it? Is there other buildings? What IS outside. "Perhaps we should take a little ... expedition."

"Do I have a choice?" Wisp asks glumly. He suspects he doesn't, and ... well. He is curious too. It's likely quite obvious on his face.

"Not in the slightest. You can do it with company or you can go alone." Bastard answers, breezily. "Do let me know if you prefer the latter."

Ugh. What a choice that is. Wisp screws up his face, tempted to tell him off and just leave. It ... would be pleasant to have some alone time, but.

"Company is ... better," he says after a moment. "Rather not be caught somewhere dangerous alone."

"There you are, assuming the worst case again."

Not that Bastard wasn't going to trip Wisp into any danger they find himself.

"It could be quite pleasant outside of this competition mentioned."

"Or we could be living in a cave, with spider stalkers," Martin snaps back. "One is much more likely."

He seems entirely unruffled.

"I don't see why these are mutually exclusive." And really? He didn't.

"They - look, I don't know about you, but caves are unpleasant. And so are stalkers." Spiders on the other hand. Those are good.
